YES, THE CARPENTER; ARE YOU
SURPRISED?
(Mark 6:16)
Human beings are good at writing
people off. They conclude that some families and individuals will never do
well. They relegate some tribes and regions to the background. They behave like
gods to the people, condemning them to remain down forever.
In the Gospel of today Jesus came
to His own country and taught, but His people in astonishment questioned: Is not
this the carpenter, the son of Mary...? And they took offence at Him. Why the
offence? Because they have been condemned not to do well. Jesus left and did
little for them because of their unbelief. But He went outside still excelling
in goodness.
This is interesting. Do not mind
what people have said about you. Never mind the condemnation they have levelled
against you. You're never a failure. Your family is never a failure. Your
carpentry will take you to your victory. Yes, Jesus was the carpenter and more
than a carpenter. Go beyond where people have placed you and take the position
God has given you. Let them be surprised always. They will never believe. They
will never understand. They don't need to understand. Don't be discouraged.
Break the bounds. Explore and bring honour to God and to your dishonoured name.
Disbelief and looking down on
potentials of our people have done a great harm to us as a people just as it
did to the countrymen of Jesus. Our government look down on the human resources
we have here, but they go outside this country and do great. The talents of our
people in Aba and Nnewi are being termed crude, yet these people who should be
given incentives and boosts make it on their own. Particular sections of the
country are seen as never good to rule. We fail to value and appreciate our own
just because they have been known for long. We do not believe that people can
grow. We do not give room for improvement. We do not motivate. It is sad.
But let your watchword as a child
of God be to surprise those who think they are your God. You will be a positive
surprise to your world.
LET US PRAY
Oh God our Father, We praise and
worship You for Your good plans for us. We thank You especially because You're
not a man that fails. Even when we have been termed failures make us glorious
by Your grace. May Your glory and blessings in our lives continue to surprise
those who do not believe that what you cannot do does not exist through Christ
our Lord. Amen
God bless your Wednesday (4th
