Reflection on the Gospel of Friday Week 2 of Lent by Rev Fr Julian O Ekeh

STOP PLOTTING EVIL

(Matthew 21:33-43.45-46)

Jesus talks about the plot by the chief priests and the Pharisees to kill Him. With a parable, He addressed them and reprimanded them for frustrating the work of God. Jesus condemned them for being disappointments unto God. For their unproductiveness as well, Jesus was unhappy with them.

But why do you plot against goodness? Why do you plot against progress? What gain do you derive in frustrating the effort of God and of godly people? Why have you chosen to be a disappointment to God and even to yourself?

A good number of persons in our world today are experts in destroying others and the destiny of people.

Why is our leadership not bearing fruit? Why is it that our religious worship is not as fruitful as it should be? Are there elements plotting against the actualization of the sovereignty of God in our society?

Child of God, you will not bear fruit if you continue to plot against the will of God. You will not be fruitful if you don't stop being careless with the grace of God in your life.

Make good use of this period to bear good fruits. Work with God. Corporate with the grace of God. Stop being at enmity with God.

Will you be able to be a better person this period? Will you be able to meet divine expectations on you during this Lent? God expects you to be Holy, to be faithful, to stop being a killer of your saviour, to listen to His Son. Do these and win the favours of His kingdom.

LET US PRAY

We thank You Lord for giving us the grace to be partakers of Your kingdom. We pray against the plotting spirits in us. Frustrate all those who plot evil against Your people, against our families, against your will for us. May we inherit the joy You have prepared for us in heaven through Christ our Lord. Amen

God bless your Friday (2nd Week of Lent)
