Reflection on the Gospel of Monday of the 2nd Week of Advent by Rev Fr Julian O Ekeh

 WHAT HAS PARALYZED YOU?

(Luke 5:17-26)

Today, Jesus heals a paralytic brought in by his friends who let him in through the roof.

He was paralyzed by sin and his friends were concerned about this situation. Jesus forgave and set him free. Take people to Jesus for healing and salvation.

Back to the question before us:  What has paralyzed you?

Paralysis is a loss of muscle in any part of the body which weakens that part of the body, leaving one with no strength to function. It kills that body part.

Is your leg paralyzed that you're no longer walking in the grace of God? Have you lost the state of grace? Are you unable to walk towards the Lord who comes to you this season of advent? Are you still alive in the spirit?

Are you paralyzed by inability to pray? Are you weakened by any form of inability sickness, poverty, unhappiness, lack of zeal, things not happening the way you want them in your life, in your academics, in your marriage, in your business, in your office, in your place of work? etc

Are you paralyzed by not having a helper? Are you paralysed by loneliness, insults, self pity?

Don't allow any of these to put any of your members to death. The Lord is your only hope and will not allow you be put to shame. When everyone writes you off, the Lord knows how to right your wrong. Experience his salvation. He sets you free. Be free indeed. Rise and walk. Go on living.

Be spiritually alert. May Jesus speak life to whatever good that is dying away in you.

Let us pray

Dear Lord, we are paralysed by our sins. We are struck down by evils in our world. We are tempted to sin and die spiritually and emotionally by the various forces around us. Speak life into us. Give us friends who will help us when we fall. May we bring the weak among us to you. Help us to continue to live and walk in your grace through Christ our Lord. Amen

St Ambrose, pray for us.

God bless your Monday (Advent, Week 2)
